CREATE A KILLER LEAD MAGNET
TO INCREASE YOUR CONVERSION x3

How to create a list of clients clamouring to work with you…

How many times have you heard that you need to build an email list? You know you should do it because it gives you a direct line straight to your audience’s inboxes.

But it feels a bit scary because of the tech and you are not sure how to make it all happen, so you just keep putting it off and putting it off.

If you’ve done any marketing courses or workshops for your business, chances are you’ll have come across the idea of a lead magnet.

A lead magnet is something that you offer potential clients for free in exchange for joining your email list. Common lead magnets are 10% off a product or service, it could be a workbook or video series, it could even be a free trial.

You might have a great idea for your lead magnet. Something that really appeals to your ideal customer and that they would actually find useful.

But now you’re stuck. You’re unsure how to promote your lead magnet, how to deliver it or how to follow it up with even more value, so that your subscribers know that you’re the one to come back to.

I’m Leila Williams, and I take driven business owners from frazzled to freedom by tackling the tech that they hate to deal with. I’ve supported over 50 business owners with the lead magnets and nurture sequences and I’d love to share what I’ve learnt with you.

I will take all the hassle out of the way and help you to:

Develop an idea and content

Create the landing page / opt-in page on your website (or create a landing page if you do not have a website)

Provide templates so you can be comfortable in writing emails to nurture your customers initially

Create the automation within your email system

Let me take away all the stress so you can start building your important email list, without having to set anything up yourself.

I have known Leila for a while and have always been impressed with her knowledge, experience and approach. She was my first choice when I needed tech help and she has been fantastic. Leila speaks in a non tech way which is great and does not get phased. After working with her last year on a project, it has been lovely to hand over my email and lead magnet. I know I can trust her to do a fab job.

7 things you need to attract new clients
with a lead magnet and nurture sequence

1. A lead magnet that your target audience wants:

The most compelling lead magnet is usually money off of something. If you can offer a discount, and if someone is thinking of making a purchase, they are very likely to sign up to your mailing list in order to get the discount and make the purchase.

If your product/service is one that people might need more nurturing before they purchase, then think about how you can demonstrate the value of your product /service.

Some of my clients have lead magnets like meditation recordings, a calendar full of awareness days for planning social media, a free webinar recording where they share their knowledge; all of these things show their audience the kind of support they will be getting if they choose to work with my clients. And they are also really helpful just on their own.

2. A form where people can sign up to your lead magnet:

If you have a website, create this form on your website. You don’t want to send people from your website to a landing page.

If someone visits your website, you want them to stay there as long as possible, so don’t send them somewhere else.

If you don’t have a website, you can set this up using an email marketing service like Mailerlite. (They offer you 10 pages on their free account)

3. A thank you page or message confirming that the contact
has been added on submission of your form:

You may also include some next steps for the subscriber; advise them to add your email address to their contacts so your messages don’t end up in their dreaded Spam folder.

You could also direct them to some further reading on your website, maybe some relevant blog posts or videos.

You could even show them some of the products you have on offer; this is a great idea if your lead magnet is a discount on a purchase.

4. A link from your form to the correct audience in your
email marketing software and appropriate tags:

This means you will be able to track who has signed up for your lead magnet.

5. An email marketing system to deliver your lead magnet:

This could be a doc by email, a link to an audio. Whatever it is, you need to send it to the person who has signed up for it.

Mailerlite’s free account will allow you to do this for up to 500 subscribers so it’s a great option for when you are just starting out.

6. An automation to deliver the rest of your nurture sequence:

A 5 email sequence with a day or two between emails is a good number to start off with, but this will depend on your target audience and the product/service that you are looking to sell.

I would recommend starting with a 5 email sequence, and perhaps expanding it once you can see how those emails perform.

7. To know how to track how many people are opening
and clicking on your emails:

You can set up automations to add tags to people who always click emails, or never open emails so you can easily see who your most and least engaged subscribers are.

You can use this information to see who clicked on your sales page but didn’t make a purchase, so you can send them a personalised email offering to answer any questions they may have about your offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I even start with creating a lead magnet?

I’d begin with a brainstorm, what does your ideal client want? What are they looking for? Getting clear on your ideal client and what makes them tick is key to a successful lead magnet. Remember in exchange for your lead magnet, all your potential client is sharing with you is their email address, so it doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does need to be compelling.

Things my clients have used as a lead magnet are guided meditations, a quiz to better understand themselves, a free workshop or video series, money off a product, a workbook.. There are so many options to what your lead magnet could be, so think about your clients, what would they like? What would be most useful to them?

And be willing to test things out and try again. It doesn’t have to be perfect the first time. What’s more important is to get started and get something out there, then you can tweak it depending on how it does.

If you’re stuck for ideas, take a look through your own inbox. What’s made you sign up for email lists in the past?

What tech do you use?

I use Mailerlite to manage mailing lists, so unless you’re already using an email management system to send newsletters, I’d suggest using that too.

There’s a good amount of capability with their free account. You can have up to 500 subscribers, use automations and even set up landing pages, so if you don’t have a website, you can still start collecting email addresses.

I’ll deal with all the setup for you and create short videos to show you how to use it.

Will I need to buy any software?

You shouldn’t need to pay for any new software. I’ve set this up so it can run on a free Mailerlite account so you will need to sign up for one of those. You can use my referral link here for a $20 credit when you join.
